The bergamot oil was first sold in the Italian city of Bergamo in Lombardy, hence its namesake. It was traditionally used as a folk medicine by the Italians. The lemon oil improves digestion and regulates the acid level within the stomach. It can also promote the production of blood cells to treat anemic problems and boost the immune system. Its febrifuge qualities can help alleviate fever by lowering the body temperature. Emotionally, the lemon oil can be refreshing and cooling to the mind.
